how to make money with a blog for beginners

I usually write much longer blog posts than this one will be. Today, however, I wanted to cover an important topic: How to make money with a blog for beginners.

This won’t tell you the ways you can make money, such as affiliate marketing or using Google AdSense. I already covered that in another post called How do Blogger Make Money from Blogging?

Instead, I thought it would be better to cover the topic, how to make money with a blog for beginners, by giving you three elements you MUST have if you want to make money from blogging.

Blogging isn’t a get rich quick scheme or something you will make a full-time income from overnight. You need to put in the time and the effort to see a return on your investment.

It’s like pushing a stone up a hill, at first. However, you will reach the top of the hill and the downhill push will become so much easier. Most bloggers, unfortunately, never make it to the top of the hill.

Don’t be a blogger wannabe and never discover how to make money with a blog for beginners. Instead, get to the top of the hill by ensuring you have these three important elements.

How to Make Money with a Blog for Beginners – Element #1: Passion

Passion

Without passion, you will never make it to the top of the hill. Sure, you might make a $100 or even $1,000, but your income will be short-lived.

Bloggers choosing a niche they don’t care about are destined to fail. You can simply choose one of the blog niches that make money and start a blog, but without passion, it won’t survive.

Money may seem like a motivator for you, but those only motivated by making money are usually rather shallow and not very happy. Truly happy people have a passion for what they do every single day.

Find your blogging passion and you’ll not only love what you blog about, but you’ll also have a much better chance to reach the top of the hill.

How to Make Money with a Blog for Beginners – Element #2: Plan

How to Make Money As a Blogger For Beginners - Have a Plan

The second element you must have if you want to learn how to make money with a blog as a beginner is a plan. You need a plan and it needs to be well thought out, but it doesn’t need to be perfect.

Content Plan

Your plan should include a content plan or content schedule. Know when you will publish your new blog posts and the frequency you plan to publish. Lay it all out and stick to your plan.

If you want to grow fast, publish once per day until you reach your goal. Those without the time to publish a blog post once per day may want to shoot for a few times a week. The more you publish, the faster you will grow, and the sooner you will reach the top of the hill.

Marketing Plan

Along with your content plan, you need a marketing plan. This may include sharing on social media, building your social following, paid advertisement, and anything else you plan to do to promote your blog posts.

You want to make sure you spell out your marketing plan with as much detail as possible. When you do this, it’s easier to stick to and you’ll see more success.

I love using Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram as a big part of my blog marketing plan. I also use GetResponse to help me build an email list, which is another big part of my blog marketing plan.

Checkpoints and Goals

Your blogging plan should also have checkpoints and goals. Often, beginner bloggers will go into it with a plan and quit because they only saw a few visitors the first month. Don’t pay attention to the traffic until you reach your checkpoints.

I recommend starting with a checkpoint at 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months. At 3 months, make minor adjustments or tweaks to your plan. At 6 months, give your plan a full once over and make bigger adjustments to make sure you’re investing money and time into the things proven to work. At 12 months, it’s time to truly reflect on what you’ve done and make major adjustments, where necessary.

Set your goals and stick to your blogging plan until you reach your checkpoints. Then, don’t throw everything out and start over. Just make small changes and tweaks to spotlight what’s working and throw out what’s not.

Too often, new bloggers never discover how to make money with a blog because they give up too soon. They think they should get a ton of traffic because they shared a blog post on Facebook. Give it time and stick to your plan. Worry about the traffic only at your checkpoints.

How to Make Money with a Blog for Beginners – Element #3: Persistence

Persistence for Blogging Beginners

If you want to be successful as a blogger, you need to be persistent. You need to be persistent with your posting, your marketing, and everything else you do.

Persistence is one of the major keys when it comes to learning how to make money with a blog for beginners. You want to persist as you climb up the hill so that you can enjoy the fast descent down the other side.

Without persistence, you’ll never make. Blogging isn’t for the weak and it’s not for those looking to make it rich overnight.

If you can be persistent for six months, a year, or even two years, you’ll get to the top of the hill. You’ll get to experience the fast descent and blogging success.
